Mark G. O’Toole

Mark O’Toole has over twenty-five years of experience in providing financial advice to high net worth people and families, including extensive experience working with executives in senior management roles. Mark successfully lead the business and its clients through the peaks and troughs of a number of economic downturns, including the 2008 GFC.  Mark O’Toole established his own business in 1998 and continues to strive to provide high quality advice aligned with his client’s values and best interest.

Mark O’Toole has been part of leading advice networks, including Deutsche Bank and Godfrey Pembroke. Within these networks Mark has played key roles as Chairman of both Deutsche Bank’s financial advisory board and Godfrey Pembroke’s Advisory Board. Mark was voted onto the Financial Planning Associations Board in late 2015 as one of the 9 National Directors, and was then re-elected onto the Board for a second term of three years, in October 2016. The FPA is a growing community of over 12,000 members at the forefront of the financial planning profession.  As the only professional body in Australia licensed to provide the global CFP® designation (which is in 25 countries), they represent world-class standards and best practice financial planners who are committed to putting the client first. Mark is also a registered Tax Adviser with the Tax Practitioners Board of the Australian Government.

Mark has provided advice to numerous listed company directors and executives from various firms, such as BHP, Fosters, NAB, ANZ and partners from a number of mid and upper tier legal firms. This advice involved working through the complexities of company share plans, corporate and private superannuation, insurance and estate planning considerations. Mark O’Toole has acted as key adviser to legal counsel and the Deutsche financial planning Advisory Board in the $115 million sale of Deutsche Financial Planning & Deutsche Funds Management to Godfrey Pembroke and MLC in 2001.

Mark O’Toole has attended The Stanford Graduate School of Business executive education program in California in Febuary 2013 and a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD).  He was previously the inaugural company secretary and a trustee of the Australian Himalayan Foundation (public charity). Mark is also currently a trustee for the Sunrise Foundation.

Daniel Lunardi

Since joining the Ascent Private Wealth team 2 years ago, Daniel has had extensive experience in SMSF Advice and Family Trusts’s.  Daniel also has extensive experience with financial modelling and analysis of complex clients. Daniel is extremely competent in the use of financial planning software and numerous software applications.

Previously Daniel has worked at Vic Super for 2 years and a boutique financial planning firm for 2 years. In his time at these firms, Daniel spent considerable time preparing Statements of Advice for clients, working on technical Superannuation and Financial Planning queries. Daniel is passionate about Financial Planning and has a very keen interest in the technical side of Superannuation. Daniel has completed his Advanced Diploma in Financial Planning and holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Swinburne University of Technology. Daniel has a Letter of Authority and is an Authorised Representative with our Licensee Godfrey Pembroke. Daniel is an avid Carlton supporter and enjoys playing soccer.

George Hillary

Client Service Manager/Para Planner

George started at Ascent Private Wealth in 2015. George has recently completed his Masters of Business Administration (MBA) at RMIT. His role at Ascent Private Wealth involves preparing compliant Statements of Advice and advice presentation materials for clients through financial modelling. George liaises with external Para Planning services to ensure appropriate quality advice is delivered in the agreed time frames. George works well with clients and other stakeholders to support the collection of information, implementation of advice, keeping stakeholders informed and support the overall client experience.

George holds a youth ambassadorial role with the Australian Himalayan Foundation – an organisation with whom Ascent Private Wealth has an established and lengthy relationship with. George is also on the Board of the Nepal Village Initiative which conducts teacher training in Nepal.

Louisa Huber

Marketing Manager / Head of Client Services

Louisa has 10 years marketing and communications experience having worked at companies such as Westfield, Carsales.com.au and Family Business Australia.  Louisa also has 4 years of Property experience and has her Agent’s Representative Certificate. Louisa is currently completing her Diploma in Financial Planning and Certificate in Mortgage Broking to broaden her knowledge of the industry. Louisa is Mark’s daughter and has recently joined Ascent after several years experience outside the business. Louisa’s knowledge about the client experience helps the firm better understand and tailor the client service offering for their needs. Louisa enjoys singing, skiing and spending time with friends and family.
